The wines will land in our warehouse the week commencing February 23rd and will be shipped immediately, subject to delays. For a traditional, old-school grower keen to avoid the limelight, Cavallotto are not doing a great job staying out of the headlines. Off the back of a run of stellar vintages, Barolo specialist Kerin O’Keefe awarded Cavallotto her Barolo Winery of 2025 accolade this year. O’Keefe’s peers at Vinous and The Wine Advocate have been equally effusive. “Cavallotto may very well be the greatest Barolo producer few people have ever heard of, something that continues to mystify me. Truth is, it isn’t just the Barolos here that are impressive, the entry-level wines are every bit as delicious and well-priced.” Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate “Today, Cavallotto’s powerful yet graceful Barolos are no longer castaways afloat in a sea of internationally styled wines: instead, they are amongst the Langhe’s most distinct bottlings and have become a benchmark for impeccable Barolos that demonstrate tipicità, Barolos that respect both Nebbiolo and their terroir.” Kerin O’Keefe, The World of Fine Wine Today, we offer Cavallotto’s blue-chip wines from two outstanding, much-hyped years. Just about every Nebbiolo we have offered from these two vintages has sold out in a heartbeat, so we recommend clients keen on an allocation reserve a parcel as soon as possible. For those new to this great grower, its soulful, classical style reflects the great sites that this family farms—primarily the Bricco Boschis monopole. This is coupled with a traditional, non-interventionist philosophy in the cellar. The fifth generation—Alfio, Giuseppe and Laura, all born and raised on Bricco Boschis—continue this family’s rich tradition. They now bring an even greater focus on both the vineyards and the cellar. Even in less hyped vintages, Cavallotto is well-known as a producer you can bet your house on. Bricco Boschis is one of Barolo’s more profound terroirs; rarely does the vintage outshine the vineyard. Indeed, wines do not suffer by comparison with the more hyped vintages we offer today: Alfio Cavallotto believes 2018 is a great vintage for the Bricco Boschis, and wines emphatically back up that claim.
