Limited availability: Despite receiving a healthy allocation this year, Vincent Dureuil’s 2022s are selling fast, and half our allocation has already sold out. Please don’t hesitate if you would like to secure any of the wines this year. I wonder if there is a smarter buy in Burgundy these days than Dureuil-Janthial? Vincent Dureuil is a superstar, albeit a very quiet one; he works his vines and keeps his head down. He does not talk much. Whenever his name comes up in conversation with other great growers, everyone nods and talks about how remarkable his wines are and how much they love them. Remember that old Coche quote? This is the Côte Chalonnaise, but Dureuil does not think small. His wines are unparalleled within the region and regularly vie in quality with the best of the Côte d’Or. This has long been recognised by his peers and certain French critics, and is finally being celebrated outside France. The growers know. The critics know. It is always a thrill to taste new releases from chez Dureuil. He rarely misses and, of course, twenty-twenty-two was clearly a terrific year for Burgundy. Even though the vintage was heralded from the start, there is growing recognition that the vintage is outperforming already lofty expectations. Like all the great years at this address—and there are countless—Dureuil’s wines marry uncanny depth and detail; deeply-etched, heart-on-your-sleeve Burgundies suffused with personality, flesh and nerve. Despite being an obsessive grower with deep convictions, and one whose cellar sells out within days of release, Vincent Dureuil remains the epitome of a traditional Burgundian vigneronne. In a market where top-level Burgundy pricing has become the wild west, his wines remain well underpriced vis-à-vis the quality. As such, these superb wines offer an unlikely jackpot for Burgundy lovers. “What a pleasure to taste each year with Vincent Dureuil who makes some of the very finest wines in the Côte Chalonnaise without recourse to anything too trendy in terms of viticulture or vinification. He just gets it right, and at fair prices.”  Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
