The Terrific New Whiskies from Sweetdram, Old Favourites Back in Stock, and What We’re up to Behind the Bar... NEW RELEASE: If you don’t know the name, Sweetdram is one of Scotland’s most exciting new wave distillery projects. Their core line of flavour-led, progressive spirits includes the delicious botanical spirit, Escubac, and perhaps the world’s first Whisky Amaro. Now, 10 years in the making, we’re delighted to see the first releases from Sweetdram’s long-awaited Scotch Whisky program. Daniel Fisher and Andrew MacLeod’s Whisky credentials predate the establishment of Sweetdram in 2014. After graduating with a Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling, Fisher began working with Whisky in 2011, while also squirrelling away his own casks. At the same time, Andrew MacLeod was tempted south of the border to head up The London Distillery Co.’s Whisky program, going on to become the first to distil a Whisky in the nation’s capital for more than 100 years. In London, the two friends entered the orbit of legendary Whisky man John McDougall (ex-Springbank, Laphroaig et al.). Generous with this mentorship and his Whisky, many McDougall barrels now form a crucial component of Sweetdram’s inventory. Of course, all good things take time and Sweetdram has been careful not to release anything before they felt the quality was there. With many of their casks approaching their sweet spot, Fisher and MacLeod have now chosen to pull the trigger on their first set of releases. Key to the quality of each bottling is their complete control over their inventory. The spirits are tasted weekly and bottled at source; few independent bottlers can claim the same level of detail. BACK IN STOCK: Mezcal Union’s Uno Joven (700ml) will be back in stock early next week—we’re taking back-orders now—and our latest limited batch of Kings County’s multi-award-winning Empire Rye is now available in 750ml. WHAT WE'RE DRINKING: If you haven’t noticed our recipe collection yet, we’ve been busy playing with ingredients, and think this Fiery Jungle Bird riff on the sweet/sour/bitter tiki classic is a perfect antidote to these cold wet days that seem to be hanging around. Recipe here... WHAT WE'RE UP TO: Stay informed about upcoming tastings, masterclasses and public events via our calendar of events, or follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with all the goings on at Bibendum Bar.
