Croix, of Domaine des Croix in Beaune, and Damien Courbet, of Domaine Courbet in the Jura. David and Damien are best mates who met as oenology students in Dijon. They’ve been wanting to do something together ever since, and in 2019 everything finally fell into place. The wines have been terrific from day one, but they’ve gotten better and better with each release. The project has also grown vintage by vintage, adding a new, trusted Château-Chalon grower in 2022, and new cuvées along the way. The philosophy hasn’t changed. The idea is to produce pure, intense and delicious Jura wines from around Château-Chalon and Arbois that are also fairly priced and fault free (sadly not so common in this region). The fruit is sourced only from organic growers, ferments rely on native yeasts and sulphur is kept to the bare minimum. Every wine is kept topped up (ouillé), so don’t come to this range looking for aldehydic Savagnin sous voile! Rather, expect purity and tension: jurassien personality and character, with ‘Burgundian’ precision. The 2023 release brings five whites: the Savadonnay, a Savagnin and Chardonnay blend; the single vineyard Calvaire Chardonnay; the Côtes du Jura Savagnin; and two single site Savagnins, En Chemenot in Arbois and En Beaumont in the Côtes du Jura.
