This naturally low-yielding site gave just two tonnes per hectare in 2022. It produces perfect, small bunches of Pinot Noir with lots of flavour and natural acidity. Ricky included 25% bunches in the ferment, and the wine was pressed early to finish fermentation in second-use barriques. The wine matured for 11 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. It then spent a further 12 months or so in bottle before release.

"The 2022 Waverley Vineyard Pinot Noir is fleshy and intense, with delicate notes of beetroot and crushed rocks. The tannins are grainy and persistent, and notes of cherry and cranberry linger through the finish. This vineyard site (planted in 2005, farmed since 2015, with soils of vertisol black cracking clay over colluvial dolerite) is cooler compared to the other vineyards (Three Wishes and Woodlawn Park), and it holds its acidity well into the season."
