This fruit comes from Yungarra Estate, on the Yallingup hillside, where the vines face north and sit on a gravelly limestone base. A unique lyre training system gives a ballerina-esque canopy that lets in filtered, dappled light. This helps protect the grapes throughout the season and ensures a lovely development.
The season began with a wet spring and an early, hot summer. A fire cost the vineyard its irrigation, which lowered the crop but gave the berries a huge intensity of flavour. The grapes were hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed into amphora, puncheon and barrel, then racked to blend before bottling.
