Pinson means chaffinch in English, or more simply, finch. This is the first Domaine Ponsot Bourgogne we have shipped according to our records (we had to look!) It’s come about as a new parcel of Morey village was replanted in 2021, and so the fruit of these vines have been declassified down. A villages wine (and a delicious one at that) at Bourgogne pricing. What’s not to like?!

“The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée de Pinson comes from a new parcel in the upper part of Mont Luisants in Morey-Saint-Denis, the vines planted in 2021. It has a light red cherry- and crushed strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry. The fruit is clean but very simple, as you would expect from such fledgling vines. Still, it will give easy-drinking pleasure over a couple of years.”
