Bondar's Nero is a blend of two vineyards. The first site is from the same grower they have used for several years on the foothills behind Willunga where the soil is rocky alluvial clay. The wine from here is high-toned and red-fruited, soft and pretty. The other, newer vineyard source is located near Tatachilla where the soil is black Biscay clay and the wines are darker, with greater fruit density and structure.

"Raspberry, black jellybean, a fair bit of spice and perfume, something a little ozone-like/steely. It’s a juicy and spicy wine, a smattering of dried herb gives a savoury flourish though sweet red fruits, acidity is balanced, and there’s a fine grainy grip to tannin, running on a finish of good length. This is a good tilt at Nero in that it’s varietal and drinks well, though also has good shape and structure."
