This is from Alberto’s Grandfather’s vineyard in Le Coste (Santo Stefano Roero). The fruit from this vineyard carries wonderful depth which comes from a higher concentration of clay and some nice age (30-year-old, guyot-pruned vines). Its southerly exposure also makes this Oggero’s brightest site and ensures good sunlight hours no matter the vintage. This is the more classically styled regional rosso in the range, for lovers of more traditional Nebbiolo d’Alba, but with a distinct Roero stamp. Handpicked fruit saw 25 days on skins and wild fermentation in steel, before 14 months in Slavonian oak tonneau, and a further year in bottle before release.
