The Rocca family understand quality Moscato. In fact, it was sisters Daniela and Monica Rocca who insisted we visit Ca’ d’Gal—the benchmark Moscato producer that we now import. They probably got fed up with our repeated requests for more of this wine (which they don’t have). Rocca’s Moscato d’Asti comes from 2.5-hectares of 30-year-old vines in the commune of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in Barbaresco. More specifically, the vines sit in the Montersino Cru in the southern and highest part of the appellation at 350 metres above sea level—so not a typical source.
