This cuvée traditionally brings together three lieux-dits close to Clos de Bèze with an average vine age of 50 years: Cherbaudes, Petite Chapelle and Bel Air. In 2022, the blend also includes fruit from hail-impacted Champonnets. Thanks to the prime location of these vines, Mortet sees this as the most charming of his Gevrey 1ers Crus—a claim borne out by the reviews below.

Reviews

“As in 2021, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru includes fruit from his holdings in Champonnet, as yields were reduced by hail. Bursting with aromas of cherries, berries, rose petals and vine smoke, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and supple, with a lively core of perfumed fruit and a mouthwateringly saline finish.”
92-94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“A blend of Champonnets, not made apart in 2022 after the hail, Cherbaudes, Petite Chapelle, and Bel Air. 60% pedicel 30% new wood. Elegant and accessible says Arnaud. There is nonetheless excellent density, more red berries than black, with a fine clean and long finish. Good acid balance. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2023.”
92-94 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
