Extremely limited. This comes from a tiny, 0.15-hectare parcel of 60-year-old vines at the southern end of the vineyard, close to the Combe Grisard. We usually only taste this from barrel, and very rarely from bottle, but it is undoubtedly one of the stars of this famous vineyard. Anyone who has had the chance to drink a bottle of this unicorn with age will not need convincing. New oak has dropped from 100% to two-thirds, and the fruit fermented with 50% hand-cut berries (on the pedicel). From barrel, this was deep, mineral and long. Indubitably a great vintage.

Reviews

“Imperial purple, very little showing on the nose, not wood either, a wealth of dramatic, dynamic fruit on the palate. Clearly another level of intensity and the pedicel approach makes the wine sing that much more. A remarkably graceful finish while retaining precision. The white pepper just adds seasoning. Drink from 2032-2045. Tasted Nov 2023.”
96-99 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“That reduction in new wood makes a difference - very fine delineation with quite intense wild strawberry, blackcurrant and sea spray aromas and just a hint of brine. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and hints of dark chocolate infusing the black fruit. It’s very harmonious with a smooth, almost honeyed (in texture) finish. Gorgeous.”
