Windows Estate Petit Lot La Terre 2022

The new name for Windows Estate's unique expression of Sauvignon Blanc (previously named Fumé Blanc). This terroir-driven style uses skin contact to provide texture, complexity and depth. The fruit is sourced from the Home Block on the property, where the vines are planted to a north/south orientation, which provides ample shade, in turn allowing for natural acid and mineral character retention. The soil is gravelly loam over clay and is naturally high in minerals. The fruit was picked in the cool early morning and fermented on skins for two weeks before being gently pressed to a combination of clay and seasoned French barriques for 11 months’ maturation. A wine of presence, with weight and complexity more akin to Chardonnay than Sauvignon Blanc. Powerful, precise and long, it’s another brilliant release from this estate.
