Now well established, this label is made from Toolangi's E Block Pinot Noir, just 10 rows of 26-year-old MV6 clone vines identified as growing the property's most impressive and expressive Pinot. These rows are a direct continuation of the Paul's Lane parcel to the east, so Kaspar Hermann is convinced something unique is happening beneath the surface.
This block delivers lower-than-average yields for this already moderate-yielding site, and the fruit holds markedly more drive and intensity. Picked on the 24th of February, the fruit fermented as 50% whole bunches and 50% whole berries, spending 18 days on skins before pressing to French oak barriques (10% new) for 10 months' maturation, finishing at 13.6% ABV. The 2025 season opened warm and dry and ran on into a similarly dry summer, delivering an early, compressed vintage with fantastic phenolic ripeness and vivid colour — the wine is both vibrant and powerful while holding true to its site. Until 2024, this wine was labelled E Block and cost twice as much, so here you are getting all the wine at half the price. It's a bright, vivid, juicy, complex, single-vineyard Yarra Pinot from a great season, site and grower.
