SAMO Limoux Blanc 2016

Chardonnay. This is Étienne Fort’s (Monsieur S) still Limoux white from mature, organically tended vines at high altitude (350 metres), aged in older demi-muids. Only made in the vintages with correct conditions, it’s culled from 30-year-old vines rooted in Limoux’s rocky, argilo-calcaire soils. Named after Jean-Michel Basquiat, who created political and poetical graffiti in New York during the late 1970s under the name of Samo, it is reminiscent of some Jura whites and definitely one to try.
