The vines on this steep, 4-hectare vineyard are now 30-50 years old. At 260 metres, it’s the highest of the three Weil hillside sites, yet thanks to its aspect and deeper, weathered-slate soils, it also produces the supplest and most forward of these wines. The Weil team often uses the term ‘baroque’ when describing wines from Klosterberg, in reference to their overt exuberance. There are some similarities in character with the Kiedricher but there is much more intensity and drive on the finish.
