This Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir is blended from all five of Quealy’s vineyards to show a holistic picture of Mornington Pinot. The vineyards include Balnarring, Red Hill and the Main Ridge subregions. All sites follow classic Qualy viticulture, which involves organic farming with no irrigation and hand-picked fruit.
These wines have been left on skins for a little less time to express the youthful fruits. The barrel selections across the winery also favoured expressions with less wood influence, allowing the fruit to be more dominant.
This wine is an excellent expression of the year, which was a breath of fresh air after a string of challenging vintages. The fruit received sufficient fruit from generous rainfall and minimal weather pressure. The resulting fruit shows great varietal flavours with lovely tannin development and a strong line of natural acid. A "potentially classic year" according to the Quealy team.
