Nicole Lamarche Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot 2023

Lamarche’s holdings in Clos de Vougeot embrace two lieux-dits. Montiotes Hautes lies at the top of the clos near the Château. The second parcel, Baudes Basse, sits lower down the slope near the RN74. These two parcels, aged 40 to 50 years old, are picked together and co-fermented in an open-top wooden vat. As you might expect, Nicole Lamarche vinifies a much finer, prettier expression of Clos de Vougeot—very Vosne in style. In fact, Vougeot seldom comes this lacy and elegant. Even if the 2023 is arguably the most powerful wine in the cellar, it remains supremely elegant with black cherry and cassis fruit and fine, yet mineral tannins. Structured yet refined, it is a unique expression of this historic Grand Cru.
