Nicole Lamarche Gevrey-Chambertin 2023

Nicole Lamarche has been working with the same grower for three vintages here and is delighted with the quality. The vines are 80 years old, and Lamarche produces only a single barrel! The vineyard was planted by the grower’s grandfather and lies metres from Mazoyères-Chambertin, on the left as you enter the commune of Gevrey from the Morey-Saint-Denis side. The lieu-dit is called Aus Echézeaux, so it's a home away from home for Nicole Lamarche! This wine was vinified in amphora and aged in old oak. Nicole Lamarche brings her hallmark elegance to the appellation, crafting a wine that balances dark cherry and blackberry fruit with subtle spice, fine tannins and mineral freshness. Refined rather than forceful, this is a polished and classy expression of Gevrey.
