Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo 2020Massolino Barbera d'Alba 2021Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba 2021
Massolino’s Nebbiolo is sourced from the estate's younger Barolo vines in Serralunga, Monforte’s Cascina I Maschi on the border of the Barolo area (where the soils are rich in chalk) and a parcel in Alba on lighter, sandy clay soils (which brings power and fruit concentration). The blend is roughly one-third from each terroir. Like all Massolino Nebbiolo, it was aged in large Slavonian oak casks (although the Langhe only spends 15 months in wood, compared to 24-plus months for the Barolo wines).
The 2021 Barbera comes from Massolino’s a combination of Serralunga and Monforte d’Alba vineyards. The 2021 was fermented for 10 to 12 days in cement tanks and was raised in the same vessels for a short period before being bottled and released.
Like the Barbera, the Dolcetto comes from estate-owned sites in both Serralunga and the Cascina I Maschi vineyard in Monforte d’Alba. From a cooler, later harvest, it’s a touch darker in fruit profile than the 2020, and just as delicious.
