Margheria is one of Serralunga’s most important and illustrious sites. The Massolino family bought their first parcel here in 1964, and the remainder came online during the ’70s. The current holding is 1.5 hectares. Sitting 280 metres above sea level, Margheria is a very chalky, sandy site, a profile that brings great elegance and prettiness, while the high calcium carbonate content brings mineral energy. The 2021 is, of course, a superb example—such a pretty, perfumed, floral wine, with a juicy, red-fruited personality, all framed by lacy tannins and tangy acidity. Fermented in large oak fermenters and aged exclusively in large casks, this is as Chambolle-like as Barolo gets.
