Little Reddie Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2022

Pat’s Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is sourced from just three rows in the southeast corner of the Chalmers vineyard on the ultra-red soils common to the area. The rows were planted in 2015 with an east-west orientation, which moderates the impact of the midday sun. All the fruit was picked on 16th March, then destemmed and fermented in stainless steel. The wine was pressed after three weeks and matured for several months in stainless steel, followed by a few months in a sandstone jar. The cooler conditions in 2022 have resulted in a lighter, easier-drinking style than in previous years, with finer tannins and slightly lower alcohol. “The wine is savoury, mineral and quite a light expression of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso,” says Pat. Just 40 dozen bottles were made in 2022, so don’t dilly-dally.
