Linnaea Trifulau Monferrato DOC Nebbiolo 2021

Linnaea’s Piemontese wines are all sourced from sites high up in the Apennine mountains. Theirs are some of the highest vineyards in the region, exposed to the cool, moderating influence of mountain breezes that whip up from Liguria. Winter snows are common, boosting the profile and diversity of the classic Piemontese soil profile, limestone marls. The fruit hails from a single, dry-grown site in the Alta Langa hills, a region famed for wines that showcase the softer side of Nebbiolo. The fruit was picked by hand at the crack of dawn when the fog still sat low on the landscape. Bunches were destemmed and fermented in small batches followed by 40 days on skins before being racked to large, neutral 12-hectolitre botti for 18 months’ maturation. The wine then spent a further 12 months in bottle before release.
