Linnaea 8 Track Sally Sangiovese 2023

Linnaea’s Sangiovese vineyard sits atop Heathcote’s greenstone-derived soils, formed by underground volcanoes up to 600 million years ago. These ancient soils are rich in minerals. The site is home to seven clones of Sangiovese—from modern Italian to suitcase clones (allegedly) smuggled into Australia some years back—planted on modern rootstocks. The vines are planted tight, and yields are restricted. The fruit was picked by hand and chilled overnight before being shipped to the cellar of Dan and Michelle’s house in Malvern, where it was destemmed to open-top fermenters. The wine saw gentle handling and extended maceration before being racked to concrete egg for maturation. 8 Track Sally sees no oak and rests on lees right up until being bottled without fining or filtration.
