Champagne Jacques Selosse Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Version Originale NV (Base 16, Disg. Various dates in 2021)

Version Originale (VO) is, as always, a blend of three successive vintages from Avize, Cramant and Oger, but there is more Avize fruit, and the vineyards are mostly on the higher slopes (greater than 15% gradient). The soils, therefore, have less clay and the vines tap more directly into the chalk. This cuvée spends six or seven years on lees and receives a tiny dosage of between zero and 1.3 grams per litre. It is perhaps the brightest and most transparent of the wines we offer here, but there is still plenty of texture and generosity.
