Lamy’s red from this site comes from a tiny 0.28-hectare parcel of 45-year-old vines in the Clos itself (see the note above on the white for more details on this terroir). The planting density of this parcel is now 20,000 per hectare. The vines are not trimmed but wrapped together and they yield tiny berries with very little juice. Made with 70% whole-bunch vinification—adding to the wine’s brightness, structure and tapering finish—this is another wonderful value.

A rich deep purple with a sensationally seductive fruit, a few strawberries perhaps, sensual cherry ripe, just seamless, the structure totally hidden behind the fruit. Very lovely. Olivier describes the Gravières vineyard as a sunny location on hard limestone, and it seems to have worked a treat in 2020. Drink from 2026-2035."
