Meursault’s Clos des Mouches, a tiny monopole owned by Domaine Henri Germain, is devoted solely to Pinot Noir (despite the official map showing it as a white site!) It could be labelled Volnay, but Germain chooses to call a Meursault a Meursault. Located near the Volnay border south of Les Santenots, the vineyard, with Pinot Fin vines planted in 1949, yields under 25 hl/ha and is one of Meursault’s few walled vineyards. The wine is always red-fruited, perfumed, and luscious.
