Germain’s small production of Chassagne Rouge hails from a small, clay-rich parcel in Les Battaudes, planted in 1951. This site is just below the Abbaye de Morgeot on the Chassagne/Remigny border. Only a small proportion of whole bunches were included, and the wine was raised without new oak this year.

Reviews

“From Les Battaudes, planted in 1951. Left at its natural 12.3%. An even red crimson throughout. This is really lovely in a cherry and strawberry register, a little strict, good acidity, no rustic tannins.”
88-90 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“Scents of red berries, plums, smoke and orange zest introduce the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge, a medium-bodied, supple and fleshy wine that exhibits none of the tannic payload one sometimes associates with the appellation.”
88-89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
