La Grosse Pierre is this domaine’s principal cuvée—its calling card, if you like. This is sourced from 50-year-old vines near the house on the family property in the heart of Chiroubles at 350 metres. The soils are decomposed granite, and the planting density is 9000 vines per hectare. The parcel faces east and picks up the first rays of the morning sun. Pauline uses a combination of techniques for fermentation and extracts very gently. About half the fruit ferments carbonically. The 2023 matured for seven months in concrete.

Reviews

“The 2023 Chiroubles La Grosse Pierre offers vibrant aromas of red and black cherries interwoven with delicate floral tones and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied and with bright acidity, it delivers a juicy fruit-infused palate. The wine has an open-weave structure of tannins, lending a fluid, elegant mouthfeel. This is highly recommended for those who appreciate a more refined expression in their ready-to-drink Beaujolais selections.”
90 points, Kenna Wells, The Wine Advocate
“Bright mid crimson. Striking, lively acidity. Fresh redcurrants and red cherry. Zesty red fruit make this quite classic in a light, elegant style.”
17/20 points, Matthew Hayes, JancisRobinson.com
