An incredible wine. Jobard’s 0.7-hectare parcel of 35-year-old vines lies next to the iconic Genevrières cabotte (or workers’ cottage) in Genevrières Dessous. Year in, year out, this is a wine of great purity and intensity—a personality Jobard attributes to the quality of his vine material, a mass selection planted in the 1960s. “Here, we always get well-formed berries; we never see under- or over-ripe grapes. The fruit is always well-balanced with good pH and incredible acidity,” he says. This year, Jobard was down 70% in this vineyard, so we get even less of this tiny-production wine.

Reviews

"The 2021 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a complex nose, sporting a clever reduction, well defined with honeysuckle, grilled walnut and hazelnut scents. The palate is taut and crisp with fine delineation, fanning out with a sense of confidence towards its saline finish. Excellent."
93-95 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“4 barrels made. Antoine notes the high class massale plant selection here, apart from the two 161/49 plots which had to be pulled out. A little lemon touch to the colour. A prettily perfumed nose, with clean bright energy, building in intensity, some lime juice, a little flesh, really quite complex. Drink from 2027-2033.”
92-95 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“Wildly aromatic on the nose, this smells of chamomile, herbal tea and scented candles. Freshly picked apples pile onto the palate. There is zippy acidity to nicely corral the succulent sweetness and satiny mid-palate intensity. This was ready to be bottled when I tasted it.”
94 points, Christine Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin Burgundy Report
