Denton Ribolla Gialla 2024

Denton's 0.4-hectare Ribolla Gialla—a Friulian variety made famous by Gravner, and something of an outlier in the Chardonnay and Pinot noir heartland of the Yarra Valley—was planted before the Bishop family took over the vineyard in 2024. Fruit was hand-harvested and destemmed before spontaneous fermentation on skins for 60 days and gentle pressing to stainless steel, with amphora likely to feature in the maturation protocol in the future. A challenging split season (with heavy spring rainfall followed by a dry, warm finish) demanded a careful pick date. The result is an aromatic wine that nicely balances richness, freshness, and minerality.
