This one-off cuvée stems from the black frost that devastated Saumur in 2019. Clos de l'Écotard harvested only a third of their normal crop in 2019, with Le Haie Nardin yielding just 19 hectolitres of juice. So, to compensate his losses, Chevré “rolled together” this parcel with the fruit from his vines in Les Quarts-Saint-Vincent, a parcel of Chenin on clay/limestone that in normal years goes to make the domaine’s Saumur mousseux.
