In Jean-Marie Guffens’ words, this is “The best ever produced at Les Tourettes, thanks to a yield of 25 hl/ha.” For the first time, the Roussanne and Marsanne were aged in barrels, a quarter of which were new, and Guffens describes the result as splendid, with abundant fruit and an exceptionally long finish.
Expect a ripe, Marsanne led white with notes of beeswax, dried fruit and honey, the oak lending a gentle softness. The palate is broad and vinous, balanced by fine bitterness.
All the more remarkable in a vintage when heat and hail gave Guffens his smallest harvest since arriving at Tourettes.
