This Chardonnay is drawn from Tourettes’ l’Aigle terroir, a limestone plateau where the Chardonnay grapes stand out for their intensity and freshness. Jean-Marie Guffens bought the Estate in 1997, a few kilometres from Apt in the foothills of the Luberon. At 420 metres, the vines benefit from cool nights, and therefore slower maturation and flavour development. Tinus is his premium range, named after his grandfather, Martinus.
2025 was a tough vintage. In Guffens’ words, “The harvest was the smallest since we arrived.” The heat cost him 30 to 40% of the crop, depending on the grape variety, and hail just before the harvest didn’t help matters.
