Named for the patron saint of Merfy, the Sainte Anne is where the Chartogne range begins. It comes from mature parcels in Merfy and Saint-Thierry, planted between 1970 and 2009, whose diverse, sand-rich limestone terroirs give the wine its vibrancy and finesse. Each plot is vinified separately and blended so that site expression takes centre stage. The 2023 base is 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Meunier. It was matured for nine months in oak barrels of various sizes and blended with 40% reserve wines from 2022, 2020, 2019 and 2018. This was disgorged with a dosage of 4 g/L. It's fleshy and richly textured, yet open, airy and thoroughly delicious. Antonio Galloni once described this perennial overachiever as “one of the very best values in the world of wine, sparkling or not”. This proves him right!
