Disgorged June 2025. Do not adjust your sets. Simply named ‘Pinot,’ this wine is the first Blanc de Noirs from Agrapart’s stable. Having worked in Burgundy with Montille and others, it is very much an ‘Ambroise Agrapart’ wine; his father Pascal was not so passionate about Pinot Noir! It’s from the family’s small vineyard, Champ Saint-Bernard, planted north of Aÿ in Avenay-Val-d'Or, a village well-known in the days when Champagne produced still wines. The vines were planted at the end of Pascal's father's career and have now reached 40-to-50 years’ age.
Based mid-slope with southeast exposure, the deep soils are clay-rich and sit over a chalk base. The wine was vinified in demi-muids with native yeast and full malolactic. It was aged in bottle ‘tirage sous liège,’ under cork. An egg outside the nest, it’s a complex and dense Champagne that speaks of its terroir without ever never tipping into heaviness. Tasted alongside the Blanc de Blancs, the timbre deepens to tenor, drawing on spice and an inkier, more savoury dynamic. Singing with flavour, the wine’s gorgeous length, seamless texture and scrupulous balance introduce an exciting new chapter in Agrapart’s story.
