Camino de Navaherreros is the entry-level Garnacha, drawn from organically grown, estate-owned fruit and some purchased grapes from trusted sources. All the grapes come from a range of plots within the San Martín de Valdeiglesias region, where the high-altitude vineyards are rooted in the granitic sands of this area of the Gredos Valley.

The grapes undergo a 25-day maceration, including some bunches. Fermentation occurs in a combination of stainless steel, concrete and large wood vats. Following blending, the wine was raised in old wooden upright vats and bottled without filtration. There’s a little Tempranillo, too, adding depth and silky polish. The result is a delicious and balanced high-country Grenache of juicy, red-fruited freshness flecked with sweet spice and hints of garrigue. A brilliant release for this wine; try stopping at one glass.

Bernabeleva Madrid Camino de Navaherreros Garnacha 2023

Reviews

“The young red 2023 Camino de Navaherreros is Garnacha with some 10% Tempranillo that fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500-liter barrels and tinaja. It has a slightly deeper color than the pure Garnacha bottlings and a fruit-driven nose with aromas of berries, flowers and herbs. It has a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and is balanced, easy to drink and very pleasant. It has a moderate 13% alcohol, denoting contained ripeness, and a pH of 3.34 that indicates freshness.”
