Only 6 bottles shipped. It is great to have this Grand Cru back in our allocation. Leroux’s wine now comes from En Orveaux, a five-hectare climat bordering Chambolle. This is one of Echézeaux’s coolest sites, thanks to its exposure to the winds funneling down the Combe d’Orveau. On the upper slope above Clos de Vougeot and Grands Echezeaux, there is very little topsoil before the vines hit the hard limestone (similar to that found in Premeaux), and as a result, the wines offer tremendous finesse, perfume and texture, as well as a cool, vibrant finish. This was the only Grand Cru produced in 2024 from the Côte de Nuits, and only two barrels were made. It’s obviously very young, has excellent density and will benefit enormously from time or decanting.
