This has always been a Vosne lieu-dit
of 1er Cru quality. The vines here sit just below Suchots and Échezeaux and right beside Clos de Vougeot. They
also have an average age of about 60 years, so the quality should come as no
big surprise. Lachaux farms just 0.6-hectares and notes that the vineyard’s
iron-rich soil gives more depth and perfume than found in the blended Vosne,
which is evident in this wine’s intensely perfumed, mineral-flecked, deep fruit,
and firm, powdery frame.
