Les Chaumes is situated just below Aux Malconsorts and La Tache. It has a little more clay and iron in the soil than most of the surrounding 1er Cru sites, and this tends to bring more depth and structure than we might typically expect of a young Vosne. With age, these tannins melt and the Vosne typicity comes to the fore, exploding with perfume and texture. Lachaux farms 0.74 hectares in the middle sector of Les Chaumes, with rows running from the top to the bottom, cropped at just 26 hl/ha in 2018. The notes capture this very well—it’s a wine of serious depth and class.
