Thanks to the quality of terroirs, the plant material and the farming practices involved, this wine has long been one of the very finest examples of the Bourgogne AOC. It comes from seven parcels of Pinot Fin (the revered Pinot cultivar), including one parcel planted in 1959 at Prémeaux, in Nuits-Saint-Georges. This vineyard perennially suffers from millerandage (resulting in tiny berries and bunches) and thus generates very low yields of rich, concentrated juice. Due to localized hail damage in Prémeaux in 2018, approximately half of this vintage is from Chambolle-Musigny and a quarter from each Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Cropped at a modest 32 hectolitres per hectare, this is Lachaux's highest-yielding cuvée from 2018. It was vinified with 100% whole bunches and 15% new oak. It’s a striking, textural and layered red Burgundy that bats well above its level!
