Alfredo Maestro El Marciano 2023

100% Garnacha from Sierra de Gredos. All the vineyards are located in Navarredondilla and San Juan de Molinillo (Ávila) on south-facing slopes at an average altitude of 1,100 metres. The vines have an average age of 70 years and grow in soils of granitic sand with granite bedrock just a few centimetres below the surface. The fruit was harvested by hand in the second week of September 2023. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and spent 12–15 days on skins with daily pumpovers. Racking and the onset of malolactic fermentation also took place in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then moved outdoors to take advantage of the harsh winter conditions for natural clarification and stabilisation. It was subsequently racked to settle naturally and was bottled in May 2024. No corrections or additions were made.
