This comes from five domaine-owned parcels, all at the top of Chambolle’s slopes near the limestone cliffs. The terroirs are Clos des Danguerrins, Les Creux Baissants, Les Fouchères and Derrière le Four. The vines that go into this wine cover 1.62 hectares, with an average age of 40 years.
The parcels mostly face north with rocky soils rich in limestone. The coolness of the aspect and altitude combine with the rocky soil to produce a wildly perfumed wine with intense mineral energy across the palate. It’s powerful yet has great finesse; the mature vines bring depth and waves of sappy, vibrant, floral-scented fruit. Again, the Chambolle fermented as whole bunches and was raised in used oak.
