The old and highly revered Schlossberg parcel in Lorch was planted in the 1950s, making these vines some of the oldest Fricke works with. The steep slopes of grey slate and quartzite store daytime sunshine and radiate warmth onto the vines at night. However, it's position protected from the cold winds creates a warmer microclimate that brings more body to this wine than the Seligmacher. Vinification was entirely in stainless steel with seven months’ on fine lees.

Reviews

“The 2024 Riesling Lorcher Schlossberg combines an upper layer of mica schist with a substratum of quartzite. White peach and lemony zestiness converge on the shy nose. The palate adds a note of greengage, creating superb balance and tip-toe lightness. It finishes with immense purity. (Off-dry)”
94 points, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous
"The 2024 Lorcher Schlossberg Riesling is deep, concentrated, aromatic, and mineral (or stony) on the nose, which is fresh, savory and intensely fruity. Round, elegant and balanced on the palate, this is a delicate, crystalline, persistently salty, aromatic and juicy Riesling with fully ripe fruit, well-integrated fruit sweetness (25.4 grams per liter), ripe but lively acidity and high extract. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork."
95+ points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
