The chalky Chevalières lieu-dit sits high up on the slope above the village, right next to Les Rougeots, and regularly makes wines that could easily justify a Premier Cru classification. In fact, Les Chevalières is an extension of the Premier Cru band that runs across the Meursault hill—with pretty much the same soils and altitude. Always outstanding, the 2023 is no exception.

It’s more mineral-driven than the Meursault Village. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity. It’s fresh and saline with a touch of spice on the finish. So composed, this might be even better than the impressive 2022. It is outstanding.”
