The 2020 blend is Cabernet Sauvignon 86% Merlot 9% and Petit Verdot 5%. Sourced from three plots in Margaret River, from vineyards planted on gravelly soils and farmed under an organic regime. The vines in these vineyards produce moderate yields of high quality fruit which conveys a clear sense of place.

Fruit parcels were hand harvested and fermented separately in a combination of open, static and concrete fermenters with daily pumpovers. Following fermentation the wine was pressed and matured in French oak for 14 months followed by a further three months in concrete. It was then blended and filtered before bottling in October 2021.

2020 provided close to perfect growing conditions in Margaret River. The season was warm and dry, cooling off in January to provide for steady ripening and great flavour development. The reds were picked in outstanding condition with good density and fine, ripe tannins.

Reviews

"Inviting aromas of crushed redcurrants, red cherries, ground baking spice and sweet paprika. Medium- to full-bodied with creamy tannins. Driving, sharp acidity colors the succulent and savory red fruit. Lingering finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap."

“Good colour, a deep red with a good purple tint still evident; leafy blackcurrant aromas with a little cedar developing. The palate is somewhat raw-fruited with some astringency: a pity as the flavours are appealing—and it has really good depth and length of palate. Food (or time) would help tame its boldness.”

“Good depth and brightness to the colour. The bouquet is appealing, heralding the juicy cassis fruit of the palate. The finish with no tannins to mumble over. Ditto overall balance.”
