Kanosuke Limited Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky 2022

ABV 59%. Kanosuke’s position in the deep south of Japan and right on the sea offers ideal conditions for maturation; mild in summer, but wild and windy at other times of the year, meaning the distillery air is often permeated with sea spray. Utilising a trio of bespoke pot-stills (each configured with a different neck shape and lyne arm angle), Kanosuke’s malts have already become renowned for their remarkable smoothness and spicy impact.

The new release—100% non-peated malt—was distilled across all three stills between 2017 and 2019, and was bottled for release in June 2022 at cask strength. It’s Kanosuke’s third Limited Edition release single malt, and unlike last year’s two releases, this year’s blend has seen the distillery utilise a much higher proportion of Sherry casks, estimated to be approximately 30%. The remainder was drawn from mellow ex-Shochu barrels with a smaller proportion of ex-Bourbon casks.
