In March 2021, the domaine purchased a small parcel of 1976-planted vines in this Savigny 1er Cru. Named after the vineyard’s light, sandy-gravelly soil, the south-facing Aux Gravains lies between Les Lavières and Aux Serpentières in the middle of the 1er cru slope. The cool air of the Combe de Bouillon brings freshness while light limestone soils give plenty of perfumed, floral lift and silken, mouthcoating tannins. Jean-François and Lucie Germain are very happy with the site and, based on our first experience with the wine, they should be! 2022 gave nine barrels instead of 2021’s paltry four, and the wine is a deliciously juicy, vibrant expression of Savigny.
