Natural cork. Leroux now controls two hectares in Vosne, and the 2021 villages wine benefited from the fruit of five separate lieux-dits. Importantly, these vineyards are home to excellent Pinot Noir vine material—almost exclusively old selections of Pinot Fin. From north to south these sites include: Maizières Basses (organically farmed with 60-year-old Pinot Fin vines); a small portion of Les Violettes; a new parcel of old-vine Pinot Fin in Genaivrières (just beneath the vines of Domaine Leroy); and finally, there is Les Jacquines and Au-Dessus de la Rivière. These parcels span the various terroirs of the village, and each was vinified separately. Surprisingly, Leroux was able to make the same volume of wine as he was in 2020. The 50% whole-bunch quota derives mostly from the two northern parcels. It’s another fine example of this village, with plenty of richness on a palate shot through with compelling tension.

Reviews

“16 barrels (one more than in 2020). A fine attractive pale ruby colour. About half whole bunch. More depth of fruit than the village Vougeot, with fresh strawberry notes, not especially concentrated to finish, but fine and will be accessible relatively soon.”
88-91 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
