Biodynamic. This excellent Prissé climat is one of the new vineyards the Bret brothers recently purchased in partnership with Dominique Lafon. The 40-year-old vines here face due east in a sheltered spot just below a small forest at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. The vineyard was recently certified biodynamic and had been organically farmed by Pierre and Nathalie Desroches since 2010. It’s not hard to see why the brothers are so effusive when talking about this patch of dirt.

La Soufrandière Saint-Véran Climat La Bonnode 2018

Reviews

“Fresh, lively and intense with lovely lemony fruit and crystalline purity. There’s a lovely layered, mineral texture here with fine spices. This is really serious.”
95 points, Jamie Goode, Wine Anorak
“Offering up pretty aromas of citrus oil, pear and crushed mint, the 2018 Saint-Véran La Bonnode is medium to full-bodied, round and supple, with ripe but succulent acids and an open-knit, charming profile. More giving and immediate than the 2017 rendition, it will drink well young.”
89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“A fresh and ripe nose features notes of mostly white-fleshed fruit trimmed in plenty of citrus character. There is reasonably good energy to the attractively textured medium weight flavors that possess evident minerality on the delicious, clean and agreeably dry finale where a hint of warmth slowly emerges. This is delicious and a wine that should reward a few years of cellaring.”
89 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
